Fashion is a state of mind. Sounds like a cliché, but it’s the most truthful thing you’ll ever hear about clothes. A good example of that is those pictures taken right outside award shows, like the Emmys or the Oscars for example. Notice how those “hot or not” kind of articles about whatever the celebrities are wearing tend to always benefit whoever’s the “hipster” celebrity of the established famous person? That’s not necessarily because they have a better designer working for them or more money to buy a better dress. It’s often because of how they wear the clothes.
There’s no greater fashion faux pas than wearing something that doesn’t fit your state of mind, and that’s what having a fashion sense is all about. Dressing for the occasion is often harder than dressing for your personality, and being in touch with the latest couture fashion is also harder than being in touch with your true self. And this is true for both women and mens fashion: if you don’t live what you wear, you won’t look good. It’s like the old saying that, if you can’t wear clothes right, they’ll wear you. And, in the end, it’s you who has to come out the winner.
